This weekend’s steampunk calendar includes the return of the Rock N Roll Steampunk Fair to New Jersey along with events in Arkansas, Colorado, and Northern California. Meanwhile, goths and steampunks will gather in North Yorkshire, U.K. for the spring edition of Whitby Goth Weekend.
Thousands of people, many in costumes, gathered in the seaside town of Whitby, U.K. for the 30th anniversary of Whitby Goth Weekend. The festival, held Nov. 1-3, is believed to be one of the world’s largest goth events.
Twice a year, goths and steampunks from across the U.K. travel to the North Yorkshire coast for Whitby Goth Weekend. The latest gathering took place April 26-28, and our guest photographer was there to shoot pictures and pose for some as well.

Author Jess Nevins famously stated that “steampunk is what happens when goths discover brown.” But for a few days last month it was steampunks donning black as the spring edition of Whitby Goth Weekend took place April 28-30.
