Photo Gallery: After more than a year of the pandemic, folks are eager to get out and socialize, and so it was last weekend as steampunks gathered at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire and Papplewick Pumping Station in Nottingham.
The Ministry of Steampunk announced the news Sunday, citing the closure of Kelham Hall, the main venue for the event. The Ministry was unable to cut a deal with Kelham Hall’s new owners, and efforts to find a new location also came to naught.

The 2021 Asylum Steampunk Festival hit a major roadblock amid reports that the operator of Kelham Hall, the main venue, is in liquidation. The Ministry of Steampunk has suspended ticket sales for the festival.

Steampunk fans clad in splendid, imaginative costumes flocked to the coast of North Yorkshire for Whitby Steampunk Weekend, one of the larger steampunk events in the UK. Held Feb. 8-9, it was the first of two Whitby Steampunk Weekends set for 2020.
