Bourbon City Steam returns this weekend to Louisville, Kentucky with a speaker roster that includes authors Leanna Renee Hieber, Philippa Ballantine, Tee Morris, and M.J. Baerman along with other steampunk luminaries. Meanwhile, it’s time again for Boston’s Monthly Steampunk Gathering.
The Bourbon City program includes panels, workshops, airship racing, tea dueling, teapot racing, a costume contest, and an Iron Maker challenge led by maker guest Jeff Church.
Baerman will use the convention to launch her new novel, Aether’s Call. The convention is led by steampunk author Geoffrey Mandragora.
Other guests include fire artist Steampunk Xena, robot cosplayer A.S.G.A.R.D., TeslaCon founder Eric Larson, and Atlanta Steampunk Expo founder Bill Harrison. Peter B. Slayer will serve as master of ceremonies.
This will be the second edition of the convention, which launched last year as the River City Steampunk Expo. It filled a void left by the demise of the International Steampunk Symposium in Cincinnati.
Weekend passes cost $75. Day tickets are also available.
The convention takes place March 14-16 at the Holiday Inn Louisville East, 1325 S. Hurstbourne Pkwy, Louisville, KY 40222 (same venue as last year). See the website for more info.
