Madame Askew and the Grand Arbiter will present their Third Annual Tippy Golden Teacup Awards on Friday, Jan. 31, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Pacific time. It will stream live from their virtual tea parlour on Zoom. They’ll be joined by guest presenter Eve Riot.
The awards recognize steampunk luminaries in multiple categories, including these:
The Grand Macaroni: Honoring “a Dandy whom you believe embodies not only the sartorial elegance of a dandy but also our Steampunk CommuniTea ideals kindness, inclusion, and gatebusting.” Any person of any gender is eligible.
The Textile Transformer: Recognizing “a Sewist whom you have seen evolve their own costuming skills and projects this year. They should not only embrace our ideals of kindness and creativity, but also be on a journey of discovery and learning with their sewing.”
The Brass Forge: This is a maker award, recognizing “individuals who are not only forging props for every generation but are also forging communities that will stand the test of time. They elevate not only the ancient Arts of Foamery but also inspire their fellow makers.”
Dynamic Duos: Recognizing “a steampunk partnership who has brought a singular magic to the CommuniTea.” They can be “best friends, comrades in time travel, or even a romantic connection.”
The ceremony will also be available on their YouTube channel. They will post a link to the tea parlour on the day of the event. See the event page for more info.
