Steampunk Symposium Postponed Again, This Time to 2021
The International Steampunk Symposium in Cincinnati, one of the first steampunk events affected by the Covid-19 outbreak, has thrown in the towel on an event for 2020. The convention was originally set for March 27-29, but on March 13, organizer Aloysius Fox announced that it would be rescheduled to Aug. 28-30.
Last week, “we further assessed the situation, weighing the prospects for restoration of public health and safety in the next 14 weeks, and came to the conclusion that the only safe course of action was to cancel this year’s Steampunk Symposium,” he wrote in a blog post on the convention website.
Next year’s symposium is now scheduled for Aug. 20-22, 2021 and will carry over the “Weird West” theme planned for 2020. Tickets for this year’s convention will automatically roll over, but ticket holders also have the option to transfer tickets to another person or to the Chicago Steampunk Exposition, which is slated for April 23-25, 2021.
