Steampunk Martial Arts Film Now Available on YouTube

Nov 29, 2019

Steam, the short steampunk martial arts film by Pau Han Kho, is now available for viewing on YouTube. The seven-minute production tells the story of a locomotive mechanic named Jacky who battles members of his former gang.

Kho, who appears in the film as Jab, says he posted the film in honor of Bruce Lee’s 79th birthday. It was originally released in January 2018.

Earlier this year, the film was recognized with the “Most Creative” award at the Lense Film Festival in Middelburg, Netherlands. It also won prizes at the Vlaardings Film Festival and Out of the Can Film Festival.

Kho, based in Rotterdam, Netherlands, says he was introduced to steampunk in 2016 while taking an animation class. “I was animating gears,” he says. “My mentor mentioned that it looked like steampunk and showed me some pictures. I was immediately fascinated about the props like mechanical arms, flintlock walking canes and Bartitsu.”

See the film's Facebook page for more info.
