Steam Powered Giraffe (SPG) announced new tour dates for 2025, which will take their show outside the San Diego area for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.
Their currently scheduled U.S. dates are as follows:
May 11 - Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles
May 17 - Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix
May 31 - Aladdin Theater in Portland, Oregon
July 26 - Wild Rose Casino & Resort in Jefferson, Iowa, approximately 60 miles northwest of Des Moines
Dec. 13 - Yulemas Show, The Center Theater at California Center for the Arts, Escondido, California
General admission tickets are available for all shows. VIP tickets are available for the Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Escondido shows. They include preferred seating and meet-and-greet sessions with the band following the performance. Although VIP tickets are sold out for the Iowa show, the band will allow all ticketholders to participate in the meet and greets.
The band is also eyeing tentative, but unconfirmed shows in Berkeley, California; Sacramento, California; and Seattle.
Each show is two hours long and will feature selections from their full 16-year repertoire.
SPG at The Asylum
The band previously announced that they’ll be crossing the pond in August to perform at the Asylum Steampunk Festival in Lincoln, U.K. The show, at The Engine Shed, is scheduled for Sunday evening, Aug. 24. The band says they will likely participate in additional events including “a Q&A panel, meet and merch opportunities, a tea/dinner event, and photo ops,” but this has not been confirmed.
Admission to evening events at the festival require separate tickets, which are expected to go on sale at the end of March.
Close to Home
The pandemic forced virtually all music acts to curtail live, in-person performances, but SPG has taken longer than most to return to the stage.
The band gave its first post-pandemic performance on Jan. 26, 2024, at The Center Theater. Months prior to the show, band member David Michael Bennett, aka “The Spine,” wrote that they’d be presenting a limited number of concerts in the San Diego area as they rebuilt their live show.
They returned to the same venue for multiple performances, including one last month. As it stands now, the Los Angeles show will be their first outside the San Diego area since the pandemic.
