Professor Elemental celebrated Valentine’s Day with the release of The Love Album, in which the chap hop maestro waxes poetic on matters of the heart. Once again, he’s assisted by longtime collaborator Tom Caruana.
“Love powers everything I do as the Professor (well that and the abject terror of having to get a real job again), and Tom’s beats are so warm and delightful,” he wrote in a message to fans. “With the world feeling pretty cold at the moment, we thought it was a nice time to go on an adventure through love, not just the romantic kind, but the love of friendship, family and music.”
The 20-track opus includes a series of bits entitled “Professor Elemental’s Guide to Romance.”
Here’s Part 3: “Ask questions. Perhaps your date doesn’t share your specific interest in reanimating the dead through terrifying scientific experiments, with the eventual aim of making one’s own zombie circus. But you may find that they have interest and skill in grave robbing, which complements you perfectly.”
Several tracks are remixes of previously released material. One, “Otto & Victoria,” is a homage to the popular books by Brian Kesinger about a young woman and her pet octopus. “Oh Geoffrey,” originally on the Professor’s 2012 album Father Of Invention, is an ode to his orangutan butler.
Another song, “Where It The Love,” inspired the theme for his new live show. “The Lovely Tour” will have stops in London, Leamington Spa, Stourbridge, and Crawley.
The album is available exclusively on Bandcamp. Learn more on the Professor’s website.
