Frenchy and the Punk, Bruce Rosenbaum to Appear at Jewelry City Fest

Jan 22, 2025

Musical duo Frenchy and the Punk and steampunk artist Bruce Rosenbaum will be among the special guests as the Jewelry City Steampunk Festival returns to Attleboro, Massachusetts, on Saturday, Jan. 25.

In past years, the festival has been held at multiple locations in the city’s downtown. This time, the Ezekiel Bates Lodge at 71 N. Main Street will serve as the sole venue.

Frenchy and the Punk are a duo consisting of singer Samantha Stephenson (Frenchy) and guitarist Scott Helland (The Punk). Their most recent album is Midnight Garden, which was released last year. They are frequent performers at steampunk events.

Rosenbaum, described as the “Steampunk Guru” by The Wall Street Journal, is best known for his “Steampunk House” near Boston and his conversion of a church in Western Massachusetts. The latter was featured in an episode of Amazing Interiors on Netflix.

Other scheduled performers include Nathaniel Johnstone Band, Steamcordia, and Haunted by Possums. The program will also feature dance, circus acts, teapot racing, a costume contest, and a presentation about the history of vaudeville by local historian and musician Richard Foster. Steampunk author Jessica Lucci will be selling books in the vendor area.

Also on the program:

• Illuminate Children’s Theatre will present a 20-minute dramatic performance.

• The Attleboro Public Library will host a “Steampunk and Sci Fi Book Tasting” on the second floor where guests can read or borrow from a selection of books.

• The Attleboro Area Industrial Museum will present a free make-and-take workshop where attendees will create their own cyanotype prints using objects from the museum’s collection.

The festival has been held in Attleboro since 2017. The name draws from the city’s history as a center of jewelry manufacturing. It’s about 10 miles northeast of Providence and 40 miles south of Boston.

Festival hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free, thanks in part to grants from the Attleboro Cultural Council, Mansfield Cultural Council, Sharon Cultural Council, Norton Cultural Council, and Massachusetts Cultural Council. Learn more on the website.
