Edwardian Ball Reveals 2023 Lineup, With Last Rosin Coven Appearance
Saturday, December 10, 2022
The organizers of The Edwardian Ball announced the entertainment lineup for next year’s event, which is scheduled for Feb. 3 and 4 at the Regency Center in San Francisco. The big news is that it will feature the final Edwardian Ball performances of Rosin Coven, the dark cabaret music ensemble that launched the first Edwardian Ball in 2000.
The 2023 event will also mark the return of DJ Vourteque, who has spun neo-vintage tunes at past gatherings but did not appear in 2022. Also returning will be long-time mainstays Kinetic Steam Works, Dark Garden Corsetry, Le Cancan Bijou, Renegade Opera, and Speakeasy Syndicate (previously known as DJ Fact.50). Atom Smith will take the stage on Friday night, while Van Goat and John Brothers Piano Company will perform on Saturday.
The Ball, a major happening on the Northern California steampunk calendar, combines elements of a neo-vintage circus, music festival, art exhibition, and masquerade party. It serves as a tribute to writer and illustrator Edward Gorey.
The organizers previously announced that the 2023 Ball will feature a stage adaptation of Gorey’s tale “The Object-Lesson,” presented by Vau de Vire Society with musical accompaniment by Rosin Coven. Vau de Vire Society, a Bay Area circus performance troupe, is co-host of the Ball along with Paradox Media.
