Central Florida Steampunks Turn Out for MegaCon

Friday, May 24, 2019
CFSA at MegaCon

With more than 100,000 attendees, MegaCon Orlando is one of the largest pop culture conventions in the U.S., drawing fans of gaming, anime, science fiction, horror, fantasy — and steampunk. The latest edition took place May 16-19 at the Orange County Convention Center, and the Central Florida Steampunk Association (CFSA) was there with a booth, panels, teapot races, and the Museum of Costumes & Curiosities. The latter was presented in conjunction with the Central Florida Costumer’s Guild.

Also appearing at MegaCon was Phantasmagoria, the Orlando-based “Victorian Horror/Circus Troupe.” They staged in-booth performances of dancing, puppetry, and tricks with knives and whips. Celebrity guests included Michael J Fox, Zachary Levi (Shazam), David Tennant (Doctor Who), John Barrowman (Doctor Who, Torchwood), and Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future).
