Australian singer-songwriter Velvet Jeanie released a music video featuring “The Causeway Song,” an original sea shanty that appeared on her 2023 self-titled debut album.
She describes her sound as “theatrical folk rock” that mixes “dark fantasy elements and World music influences.” The song, she said, was inspired by a trip to the north coast of Ireland.
The video was recorded aboard a replica of an 1873 sailing ship at the South Australian Maritime Museum in Adelaide. It features a “live, raw, and unedited playthrough” of the song, she said. She released a different version as a music video in 2019.
Steampunk fans might also enjoy “Mr. Nick,” a music video released in August 2023.
