Once again, thousands of steampunk fans along with curious onlookers will converge on Lincoln, U.K. for the Asylum Steampunk Festival, billed as “the longest running and biggest steampunk event in the world.”
The Menagerie presented the latest Victorian Oddities Market at Spire the Church in Oakland, California. The event featured artisan vendors selling goth and steampunk items including jewelry, accessories, apparel, headwear, and home décor.
“Cavaliers and Cads” will be the theme as the Key City Steampunk Convention returns Aug. 11-13 to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It’s one of several steampunk events this weekend, including happenings in Connecticut, the SF Bay Area, and the U.K.
The crowdfunding platform will allow projects that use AI tools to generate text, images, or other content, but creators must provide details about how they use AI. Those that violate the guidelines could be restricted from launching future campaigns.
The twice-annual event took place July 22-23 at the Whitby Pavilion on England’s North Yorkshire coast, with a steampunk market along with presentations, workshops, live entertainment, and lots of cosplay.
With summer blockbusters like Barbie and Oppenheimer blazing in theaters, pickings are slim this month on streaming services, especially when it comes to new arrivals with steampunk appeal. However, fans of Aurelio Voltaire may want to check out Labyrinth on Hulu.
Monday, July 10 is Nikola Tesla Day, an unofficial holiday recognizing the 167th anniversary of the inventor’s birth, and celebrations will be happening around the world. Tesla, of course, is an icon of steampunk.
Highlights include Season 2 of Good Omens on Prime Video plus Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire, a sci-fi anthology series on Disney+. Also: Two modern-day Jules Verne adaptations arrive on Max, along with Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
The move comes as Jason Dean, who founded the Cincinnati-area steampunk convention, has re-acquired the original name and website from Jennifer Noran. “Queen City” is an early nickname for Cincinnati.
The band will perform live and in-person on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024 at The Center Theater at California Center for the Arts in Escondido, California. It will be their first live concert since the start of the pandemic.

The second Hangtown Wild West & Steampunk Festival took place June 17 and 18 at the Amador County Fairgrounds. That’s about 40 miles east of Sacramento, so naturally the Sacramento Steampunk Society was there.
It’s been a long wait, but we’ve finally posted a new episode of The World of Steampunk, our video series. Episode 7, the biggest yet, features a Q&A with Unwoman along with a generous helping of steampunk news.
The chap hop maestro is out with his latest album, a 15-track opus entitled Professor Elemental and His Amazing Friends 3. It’s the last part of a trilogy featuring some of his favorite collaborators. He also released a music video.
It’s another big weekend for U.S. steampunk fans with the Brass Screw Consortium in Washington, International Steampunk Symposium in Cincinnati, Hangtown Wild West & Steampunk Festival in California, and others.
Once again, the list includes many authors and musical acts that will be familiar to steampunk fans. The multi-genre fan convention takes place over Labor Day weekend at multiple locations in downtown Atlanta.
June 14 is (almost) here, which means it’s time to celebrate International Steampunk Day. The day provides a great excuse to host events, watch movies, play games, read books, listen to music, and more. We have some suggestions.
“Steampunk Under the Big Top” will be the theme as the International Steampunk Symposium happens June 16-18 in Cincinnati. This will be the first year under new owner Jennifer Noran, who took the reins after Jason Dean moved to Chicago.
Unwoman and Mr. B The Gentleman Rhymer are out with new albums, though in Unwoman’s case it’s a free pre-release version. Also: The Cog is Dead has a new single and Steam Powered Giraffe is crowdfunding a vinyl release of MK III.
Steampunk fans in the Midwest braved 90-degree temperatures as Cogs & Corsets: A Steampunk Happening, took place June 2-4 in Bloomington, Illinois. Fortunately, many activities were held in the air-conditioned Bloomington Center for Performing Arts.
June’s highlights include the arrival of The Wild Wild West on Prime Video. That’s the original 1960s TV series, not the widely panned 1999 movie adaptation. And Max will continue streaming Unicorn Warriors: Eternal, the new animated steampunk series.
You had to wonder what folks in downtown San Jose were thinking over Memorial Day weekend as groups of colorful sci-fi and fantasy characters streamed to the convention center. It was time for FanimeCon, the region’s largest anime gathering.
It’s another jam-packed steampunk weekend with events across the U.S., along with Steampunk NZ in New Zealand and Portsmouth Comic Con in the U.K. U.S. highlights include Cogs & Corsets and the Freaky Mutant Weirdo Festival.
Costume designer Laura Meyer is back on the crowdfunding platform, this time with a Victorian-style playing card deck. Meanwhile, Scott Helland of Frenchy and the Punk has launched a campaign for a new Guitarmy of One solo album.
This event didn’t have A-list celebrities or other attractions you might find at a big pop culture convention. But it had a friendly atmosphere, imaginative cosplayers, and talented artists who were happy to discuss their work.
U.K. steampunk author Paul Eccentric is taking his Periwinkle Perspective series into the visual realm. Meanwhile, Danielle Ackley-McPhail is crowdfunding a new story collection and a developer in Australia is seeking funds for an RPG.
