Nisi Shawl is best known to steampunk fans as the author of Everfair, a 2016 novel about a fictional utopia in Central Africa in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The novel received nominations for a Locus and Nebula Award.
In 2024, Shawl followed up with a sequel entitled Kinning.
