China Miéville is an award-winning author who describes much of his work as “weird fiction.”

His acclaimed novel Perdido Street Station is set in a world where steampunk technology co-exists with magic. It received the Arthur C. Clarke Award and British Fantasy Award, and was nominated for the Hugo and Nebula Awards. It was ranked sixth in a Locus reader poll of the best fantasy novels of the 20th century.

Miéville was also featured in Vintage Tomorrows, a documentary about steampunk.
