University of Washington
The University of Washington, (Washington, U-Dub, or UW) is a public flagship research university based in Seattle. The university has three campuses: the primary and largest in the University District of Seattle and two others in Tacoma and Bothell. Total enrollment was about 46,000 in Fall 2016.
Notable alumni include science fiction authors Frank Herbert and Jerry Pournelle; fantasy author David Eddings; author Tom Robbins ("Even Cowgirls Get the Blues"); jazz guitarist Larry Coryell; martial artist Bruce Lee; Star Trek actor Jeffrey Combs; actresses Anna Faris and Jean Smart; and actors Dylan Bruce ("Orphan Black"), James Caviezel, and Kyle MacLachlan.
Library access: UW has one of the largest library systems in the world. The libraries are open to the public. The unveristy has reciprocal borrowing arrangements with other institutions in the Pacific Northwest through the Orbis Cascade Alliance. Others may obtain borrowing privileges by joining Friends of the UW Libraries for $100 per year.
