San Diego State University (SDSU) is the largest and oldest higher education institution in San Diego County. It has a student body of more than 35,000 and an alumni base of more than 280,000. The university awards 190 bachelor's degrees, 91 master's degrees, 25 doctoral degrees and PhD programs in collaboration with other universities.
Notable alumni include acience-fiction authors Greg Bear and Joan D. Vinge; "Babylon 5" creator J. Michael Straczynski; film producer Kathleen Kennedy; and actor Gregory Peck.
Library access: The library is open to the public. The guest borrowing program was temporarily suspended as of December 2017.
