National University (NU) is a private, nonprofit institution of higher education in California. Headquartered in La Jolla, California, it offers academic degree programs at campuses located throughout the state of California, one campus in Nevada, and online. NU is organized into four professional schools and two colleges: the College of Letters and Sciences; the Sanford College of Education; the School of Business and Management; the School of Engineering and Computing; the School of Health and Human Services; and the School of Professional Studies. Programs are concentrated (typically 4 weeks in length) and are designed primarily for adult learners. On-campus classes are mainly scheduled during weeknights with an occasional Saturday.
The university has locations in Bakersfield; Costa Mesa; Fresno; Henderson, Nevada; Los Angeles; Ontario (Calif.); Oxnard; Rancho Cordova (Sacramento); Redding; Riverside; San Jose; Stockton; and Woodland Hills. Notable alumni include Weston Ochse, author of "Scarecrow Gods," which won the 2005 Bram Stoker Award for Best First Novel.
