North Carolina State University is a public, coeducational, research university in Raleigh. It is part of the University of North Carolina system and forms one of the corners of the Research Triangle together with Duke University in Durham and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. NC State has an enrollment of more than 34,000 students, making it the largest university in the Carolinas. NC State has historical strengths in engineering, agriculture, life sciences, textiles and design and now offers 106 bachelor's degrees. The graduate school offers 104 master's degrees, 61 doctoral degrees, and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

Libraries: NCSU Libraries includes 4.4 million volumes, over 50,000 print and electronic serial subscriptions, more than 20,000 videos and film holdings, and more than 40,000 digital images (as of 2011). The library system consists of two main libraries and three branch libraries. The D. H. Hill Library is located on North Main Campus in the center of University Plaza. It contains about 70 percent of the Libraries collection. The James B. Hunt Jr. Library is located on the university's Centennial Campus. The Hill Library is open to the general public except during reading days and final exams. The library has reciprocal borrowing arrangements with other institutions in the University of North Carolina System and the Triangle Research Libraries Network. Unaffiliated visitors can gain access to library resources by joining Friends of the Library ($125 per year) and paying an additional $50 per year. This entitles you to borrowing privileges and access to online collections.
