Haverford College is a private, coeducational liberal arts college in Haverford, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia. All students of the College are undergraduates, and nearly all reside on campus. Originally an all-male institution, Haverford began admitting female transfer students in the 1970s and became fully co-educational in 1980. Its current enrollment is 1,190 students. Haverford is a member of the Tri-College Consortium, which allows students to register for courses at Bryn Mawr College and Swarthmore College. The college has produced 67 Fulbright Scholars, 62 Watson Fellows, 24 Goldwater Scholars, 20 Rhodes Scholars, 18 Guggenheim Fellows, 4 MacArthur Fellows, and 3 Nobel Prize Recipients.
Notable alumni include humorist Dave Barry; author John Dickson Carr; painter Maxfield Parrish; TV producer Mark Hudis; and actors Chevy Chase and Daniel Dae Kim.
Library access: College libraries are open to the public. Borrowing privileges are limited to students, faculty and staff at Bryn Mawr, Haverford or Swarthmore, as well as holders of courtesy borrower cards. The latter are available for local religious leaders and faculty from local schools and colleges. A letter of introduction is required.
