290 Conover St, Brooklyn, NY 11231
The Waterfront Museum occupies a covered railroad barge originally built in 1914. It includes exhibits about the maritime history of the area around the Red Hook section of Brooklyn. Red Hook has been a setting for many movies, TV shows and works of fiction, including H.P. Lovecraft's short story "The Horror at Red Hook," and the FX TV horror series "The Strain." It was also a prominent setting for "Memos from Purgatory," a non-fiction book by SF writer Harlan Ellison.
