American Merchant Marine Museum

300 Steamboat Road, Kings Point, NY 11024

American Merchant Marine Museum is located at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, Long Island. Among the museum's many items are a large collection of navigation and nautical instruments, and an extensive selection of ship's china. Exhibits also include the only known back-acting steam engine still in existence, that of the former gunboat USS Ranger. It's also home to the National Maritime Hall of Fame, which honors people and ships important to American oceanic, coastal, inland waterways, and Great Lakes shipping.

As of December 2017, the museum is open by appointment only due to staffing shortages.
