The Fashion Institute of Technology, generally known as FIT, is a State University of New York (SUNY) college of art, business, design, mass communication and technology connected to the fashion industry. It was founded in 1944, accredited in 1957, and is ranked among the top five fashion schools in the world.

Seventeen majors are offered through the School of Art and Design, and ten through the Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology. The institute also hosts The Museum at FIT, which has a permanent collection with more than 50,000 garments and accessories from the 18th century to the present.

Library access: The Gladys Marcus Library is open to the public, but you must make an appointment in advance using an online form. Current SUNY and FIT students, faculty and staff can visit without making an appointment.
