New Orleans Pharmacy Museum
514 Chartres St, New Orleans, LA 70130
This museum occupies a former 19th century apothecary established by Louis J. Dufilho, Jr. In 1816, Dufilho passed a pharmacy licensing exam established by the state of Louisiana, and he's thus credited as being the first licensed pharmacist in the United States. Exhibits include surgical instruments, hand-blown apothecary bottles, eyeglasses, patent medicines, voodoo potions and a recreation of Dufilho's living quarters.
