New Orleans

New Orleans

New Orleans, well known for its cuisine, music, architecture, and Mardi Gras, is also a popular location in film, TV and literature. Notable works set in the city include "A Streetcar Named Desire," "A Confederacy of Dunces," "Interview with the Vampire," and other books in Anne Rice's "The Vampire Chronicles" series.

New Orleans was also the setting for "American Horror Story: Coven," the third season of the FX anthology TV series. One character in the series, Delphine LaLaurie, is loosely based on an infamous historical character of the same name. Owing to its reputation as one of the most haunted cities in America, New Orleans has several companies that operate ghost tours, and the LaLaurie House in the French Quarter is a popular stop.
