The society operates a museum and research center with collections related to the history of Ocean County, New Jersey. Both are housed in a renovated structure originally built before 1820. It contains temporary exhibits and rooms with Victorian-era furnishings. Notable items include industrial artifacts, a Victor Talking Machine and Edison Cylinder Phonograph. The Richard L. Strickler Research Center has more than 5000 historical images as well as information about genealogy and family names. The county covers much of the Jersey Shore from Point Pleasant south to Long Beach Island.
