University of Kansas
The University of Kansas, often referred to as KU or Kansas, is a public research university with it main campus in Lawrence, Kansas. Two branch campuses are in the Kansas City metropolitan area: the Edwards Campus in Overland Park, and the university's medical school and hospital in Kansas City. There are also educational and research sites in Parsons, Topeka, Garden City, Hays, and Leavenworth, and branches of the medical school in Wichita and Salina. Enrollment at the Lawrence and Edwards campuses was 28,401 students in 2016.
Notable alumni include comedian Rob Riggle; mystery novelist Sara Paretsky ("V.I. Warshawski"); actress Dee Wallace ("E.T.", "The Howling"); and actors Scott Bakula, Don Johnson, Mandy Patinkin, and Paul Rudd.
Library access: Campus libraries are open to the public. Designated computers are available to the public and some permit access to licensed electronic resources. Kansas residents not affiliated with KU may obtain borrower cards for $20 per year. The cost for residents of Missouri, Oklahoma, Colorado, or Nebraska is $40 per year.
