Metropolitan Waterworks Museum
2450 Beacon St, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467
The Metropolitan Waterworks Museum occupies a pumping station that opened in 1887 to supply water to parts of Boston. The facility also included a laboratory to study the biology of the water supply. The museum's Great Engines Hall contains three of the steam-powered water pumps that operated in the station. The steam engines are more than three stories tall. The museum hosted a steampunk-themed Halloween event in 2017.
