Steampunk’d in Kentucky
An exhibition by the Ohio Valley Art League draws steampunk works from 12 artists
The Ohio Valley Art League (OVAL) in Henderson, Kentucky, is hosting Steampunk’d, a juried exhibition of steampunk works that runs through Jan. 4. It features 19 pieces by 12 artists, including 2D and 3D works in a variety of media.
Joan deJong of the University of Southern Indiana was the juror for the exhibition and determined the award recipients. She’s Professor Emerita of Art and Assistant Dean Emerita of the university’s College of Liberal Arts.
The first-place award ($100) went to Connie McConaughy for “Head Case - Flash.” Second place ($75) went to Jordyn Myracle for “The Aftermath.” Myracle is OVAL’s executive director and curator. Third place ($50) went to Barbara Rodenberg for “Tetanus Lamp.” Janice Greene received a $50 Juror’s Merit Award for “Geared Up.”
Myracle provided photos of the works, which you can see in the gallery below.
The exhibition is on display at the OVAL Gallery at Citi-Center, 230 Second St., Henderson, KY 42419. It’s in western Kentucky, just south of Evansville, Indiana. See the OVAL website for more info.
