Steampunk on the Railway

We have photos from Day One of this new steampunk event in the San Francisco Bay area

Sunday, June 9, 2019

The Silicon Valley Steam Festival debuted Saturday, June 8, at the Sunol Depot of the Niles Canyon Railway in Northern California. The Steampunk Explorer was there with camera in hand. The event featured live entertainment — including performances by Poplock Holmes and Unwoman — plus steampunk vendors and opportunities to ride on steam-powered trains. Also taking the stage were steampunk magician Dr. Solar and singer-songwriter Daniel Cross.

The Niles Canyon Railway is a heritage railroad that runs steam- and diesel-powered trains between Sunol and the Niles district of Fremont in the San Francisco Bay area.

The event runs through Sunday, June 9. Photos from Saturday are in the gallery below. See the event’s Facebook page for more info.
