Scenes from the Asylum

Once again, the huge steampunk gathering was a feast of imaginative cosplay

Tuesday, September 6, 2022

The Asylum Steampunk Festival returned to Lincoln, UK over the August Bank Holiday weekend, offering an extensive program of talks, entertainment, competitions, parties, and more. But for many visitors, the costumed attendees were the main attraction. And where cosplayers go, photographers are sure to follow.

By most accounts, it’s the largest steampunk gathering on Planet Earth. It’s so big that we asked two of our past contributors, Craig Jenkins and Stephen Bell, if they’d allow us to use some of their photos. Both kindly obliged.

In addition to capturing some of the cosplay, Stephen also got some great shots from Sunday evening’s concert at the Engine Shed, where Abney Park, Victor and the Bully, and Before Victoria took the stage. You can see it all in the gallery below.
