Postcards from Reno
A photo gallery from the Yule Steam Expo, the annual steampunk fest in Reno, Nevada
Editor’s note: A fashion show, musical entertainment and the high-voltage antics of Professor Sparks were among the festivities at the Yule Steam Expo and Ball, held Nov. 17-18 at the Wilbur D. May Museum in Reno, Nevada. It was the West Coast debut for the Professor, whose show features devices that were used to produce electrical special effects in vintage films such as Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein.
MC duties fell to Strangely Doesburg, who entertained attendees with his comedy and “roaring accordion music.” The expo also had workshops, panels, authors, artwork, a large vendor area, and lots of cosplay.
The event was presented by High Desert Steam, a steampunk organization serving Northern Nevada.
Thanks to guest photographers Dr. Nathaniel Blackheart and Reshel A. Reid, we offer the photo gallery below. You can find more photos on the High Desert Steam Facebook page.
