Scenes from the steampunk fest in Central Illinois, which saw a rebound in attendance this year

Cogs and Corsets, subtitled “A Steampunk Happening,” returned June 7-8 to Bloomington, Illinois, and once again our Midwest correspondent Curt Knapp was there to take photos and file a report.
Following the pandemic, attendance at the festival had been down from previous years, and a heat wave in 2023 also reduced the turnout. This year, Curt reports, the organizers moved the festivities to a one-block area closer to the center of town.
Though the event was scaled back, it was well attended, and the organizers promised that “we’ll be back bigger and even better in 2025.”
