Hundreds of steampunk fans in the Pacific Northwest flocked to Port Townsend, Washington, for the 10th annual Brass Screw Consortium, held June 14-16 in the historic seaside city on the Olympic Peninsula.
The program included an art exhibition, fashion show, Friday night’s Den of Iniquities variety show, and the Saturday Night Hootenanny with Ranger and the “Re-Arrangers” opening for Nathaniel Johnstone Band.
Attendees also participated in competitions including tea dueling, a scavenger hunt, and a steampunk card game. They did so as members of factions: Pirates, Aetherists, Outlaws, and Cogs.
This year’s theme was “Monsters vs. Monster Hunters,” and at one point the festival participants fended off a monster invasion with a fusillade of nerf weapons and tennis balls.
Port Townsend mayor David Faber issued a proclamation honoring the event. He also named festival director Nathan Barnett as the city’s Steampunk Mayor for a day.
The attendees included Sandra Forrer, best known in the steampunk world as chair of Clockwork Alchemy, the SF Bay Area steampunk convention. She sent along photos from Port Townsend, which you can view in the gallery below.
