Steampunk will mix with Halloween thrills as the Oxnard Steampunk Fest returns Oct. 25-27 to Heritage Square in downtown Oxnard, California. Once again, TV personality Doc Phineas will serve as MC for the festival, dubbed this year as “All Hallowsteam.” He’ll be joined by musical guests Rock City, the Barrelhouse Wailers, and Julien and The Steam Funk Band.

This is the fifth year for the event, which serves as a fundraiser for the Friends of Heritage Square and Oxnard Heritage Foundation. The venue is a cultural center containing restored turn-of-the-century buildings that were moved from their original locations in the city.

The main event happens Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each day’s program includes a costume contest, tea dueling, wand dueling, a junk-to-steampunk competition, make-and-take stations, merchant bazaar, and kids’ activities. Festival admission costs $10 each day. Admission is free for kids 12 and under.

Following Saturday’s festivities, Julien and The Steam Funk Band will perform at an After Party with an Italian dinner buffet. Concert admission costs $10, but you can get in for free with a paid Saturday festival ticket. The buffet dinner costs $15 in advance or $20 on the day of the event.

The five-piece band is led by Julien Martinez, who was a contestant in Season 10 of The Voice on NBC. He also performs with the Road Brothers, an Oxnard-based blues/rock duo.

The festival will be preceded by a series of Heritage Scare Friday Night Tours on Oct. 25. Guests will visit with Doc Phineas for beverages and appetizers before going on a guided ghost tour of Heritage Square. The organizers promise “ghost stories, strange happenings and even historical colorful characters of Oxnard’s past.” Tours are scheduled for 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m., and 9 p.m. and advance reservations are required. Tickets cost $25. It’s a 21+ event.

Heritage Square is located at 715 South A St, Oxnard, CA 93030. It’s about 60 miles west of downtown L.A.
