Scenes from the steampunk gathering organized by Kolleen Kilduff of Design by Night

Wednesday, October 13, 2021

About 100 steampunk fans turned out for tea dueling, a costume contest, and more as the Royal Rabbit Vineyards in Parkton, Maryland hosted Down the Rabbit Hole last Saturday afternoon.

The event, organized by Kolleen Kilduff of Design by Night, also featured steampunk vendors, wine tastings, and a performance by Fermata.

Baroness Alexandra, well known to steampunk fans in the Mid-Atlantic region, presided over tea dueling, as she’s done at the Key City Steampunk Festival, C.O.G.S. Expo, and other events.

Sheila and Brian Fadrosh, also well known to local steampunks, served as judges for the costume contest.

Fermata is a Baltimore-area “acoustic chamber rock” band consisting of Lisa Mazza Hamilton, Thillman Benham, Cody Davis, and Eli August. The band recently released Ever Colder, its second album after a 12-year hiatus. August is also well known to steampunk fans thanks to his performances at East Coast events.

Design by Night, founded by Kolleen and husband Mike Kilduff, makes steampunk headwear, teacup fascinators, and other “whimsical flights of fancy.”

Kolleen kindly sent along an album of photos by Anthony LaVorgna Jr., which you can view in the gallery below.
