The Sheraton Parsippany Hotel in New Jersey will host the steampunk event in May 2019

The organizers of C.O.G.S. Expo have announced the location, theme and pricing for next year’s event. Scheduled for May 17-19, 2019, it will be held at the Sheraton Parsippany, a hotel in Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey that's notable for an exterior resembling a medieval castle. The event will be themed “Victorian Monsters and Science Fiction Gods,” and the organizers promise a program that includes makers, steampunk celebrities, live music, fire performers, magicians and more.
Rather than purchasing tickets, attendees will pay for annual memberships in a Donor Club. The basic Steel level membership, priced at $25, includes attendance at the expo as well as an e-newsletter and access to an online donor forum. The price goes up on Oct. 1 and again on Jan. 1.
The Copper ($100), Bronze ($250) and Brass ($500) levels confer additional benefits, including “goodie bags,” commemorative badges and free tickets to dinner or tea events.
Attendees can also purchase tickets to dining and drinking events on an a la carte basis. These include dinners on Friday and Saturday for $50 each; teas on Saturday and Sunday for $20 each; and liquor-tasting events for $20 to $25 each.
Admission to the expo will be free for kids under 12. Older students can request discounts for Steel membership.
The first C.O.G.S. Expo was a free event held May 4-6, 2018 at the Radisson in Piscataway, New Jersey, the same time and place as the ill-fated Steampunk World’s Fair. After the expo, lead organizers J.R. Whitcomb, Matt Black and Coral Rousseau (aka Azcordelia Quinn) formed a non-profit group to produce future events. On June 17, they announced that they would seek a different venue after the Radisson Piscataway agreed to host a new steampunk convention produced by VampireFreaks.
The new event, Steampunk Con, is scheduled for June 7-9, 2019. Since unveiling the event, VampireFreaks announced that featured performers will include Rasputina, The Long Losts, Valentine Wolfe, Night Watch Paradox, Faith in the Glitch, The Eternal Frontier, The Mary Lous, Dust Bowl Faeries, Hudson Dusters, Chelsea Goodwin, and Zorikh Lequidre. Activities will also include a $1000 costume contest and $500 maker’s contest. VampireFreaks is best known as the organizer of a large social network for the goth community.
