Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is a coeducational, public Master's college and university in Edwardsville, Illinois, about 20 miles northeast of St. Louis. SIUE was established in 1957 as an extension of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and is the younger and smaller of the two major institutions of Southern Illinois University system. The university has an alumni base of more than 98,000. Alumni and former students have gone on to prominent careers in government, business, science, medicine, education, sports, and entertainment.

Library access: The Lovejoy Library is open to the public, and members of the public may use most online services from computers in the building. The library has a reciprocal borrowing agreement through I-Share, which includes 86 academic libraries in Illinois. Borrowing privileges are also extended to members of the SIUE Alumni Association and Friends of Lovejoy Library. See the website for details on how to join the latter group.
