Wayne State University (WSU) is an American public research university in Detroit. Founded in 1868, WSU consists of 13 schools and colleges offering more than 380 programs to nearly 28,000 graduate and undergraduate students. It is currently Michigan's third-largest university and one of the 100 largest universities in the United States. The WSU main campus encompasses 203 acres.

Notable alumni include actresses Lily Tomlin, Crystal Reed, and Della Reese; actors Ernie Hudson, David Ramsey, Tom Sizemore, Tom Skerritt and Jeffrey Tambor; and jazz musicians Kenny Burrell, Donald Byrd, Curtis Fuller, Joe Henderson, and Yusef Lateef.

Library: With more than four million volumes, the Wayne State University Library System houses the 75th largest collection in the United States. Community members may obrain borrowing privileges for $50 per year.
