This collection consists of historic scientific instruments amassed by Harvard University since 1672. Housed in the Harvard Science Center, it's one of the three largest such collections in the world, the university says. Many instruments are on permanent display in the Putnam Gallery on the first floor. The Special Exhibitions Gallery on the second floor contains temporary exhibits. Much of the collection can be browsed online with the Waywiser search tool on the website.
